Growers and SAS Partner to Bring AI to Agriculture
Growers and SAS will partner to help farmers transform their operation for sustained success.
By 2050, the world population is projected to reach nearly 10 billion. While advances in agricultural technology are helping to improve farm practices, data analytics is the key to enhancing production on existing agricultural land. Growers, a leading software and analytics company, is forging a new partnership with SAS to help farmers turn data into insights, making better agronomic decisions across their entire operation.
“Through partnerships like this one with Growers, we have the opportunity to address the global food crisis we will all face in the next 30 years,” said Paula Henderson, Senior Vice President for the US Commercial and Public Sector at SAS. “We are bringing together Growers’ deep agronomic expertise with SAS’ leading data science capabilities to create solutions uniquely designed to support farmers, with the ultimate goal of creating a healthier world.”
Growers was founded in 2011, and their precision ag software helps trusted ag advisors capture their farmer’s data in one place, run unlimited what-if scenarios to see the impact of their decisions, and apply their plan to as many acres as the farmer has – all in a few taps.
Partnering to Solve Agriculture’s Biggest Challenges
In order to sustain our growing population, the production of crops needs to double, but the solution is not as simple as plowing more land and planting more seeds. Farmers are facing a new reality that requires integrating data and technology into a centuries-old practice in order to optimize production and address evolving consumer demands.
As a global leader in AI and analytics, the partnership with SAS will complement Growers’ ag analytics services and drive even stronger joint offerings to the ag community.
“This collaboration is really exciting for us, as the knowledge and experience we’re gaining access to will help us bring better, more innovative solutions to the ag market quickly and more frequently,” said Growers CEO Steven Valencsin. “This partnership will help solve one of the biggest challenges in agriculture, helping farmers fuel their future success with the power of analytic insights and preserve their legacy for generations to come.”
Like Growers, SAS was born at North Carolina State University, where the company’s first project was analyzing crop yield data more than 40 years ago. Today, SAS is forging a new agricultural technology business unit to help growers and agribusiness leaders turn farm and agricultural data into insights that inform safe and secure food production.
